Mencom Circular Connectors Are IP69 Rated

December 3, 2020

In late August of 2020, Mencom was very pleased to announce that most circular connector product lines are now IP69 rated. The products include cordsets, receptacles and accessories for MIN size I, II and III (Brad Mini-Change Connectors), MDC (M12 with A-code), MEC (M12 with B-code), MAC (1/2”-20 with C-code), Ethernet (M12 with D-code), and Network Bus series.

IP (Ingress Protection) rating is the most common system for evaluating how “waterproof” your connector is.  IP rating is categorized by two-digit numbers.  The first digit represents the protection rating against solid foreign objects such as dusts. The second digit represents the protection against the ingress of liquids.

IP69 testing is more demanding than other IP testing processes because it is the highest standard on the Ingress Protection (IP) rating scale. The test process includes spraying with a high-pressure stream of water (8,000 to 10,000 kPa) heated to 80°C per position for 30 seconds at multiple angles on a turntable in the water chamber while measuring the force of a water jet during the water test.

Mencom circular connectors with IP69 rating ensure the highest connectivity and reliability in harsh manufacturing environments that require hygiene and cleanliness as well as regular exposure to high pressure and temperature. These connectors are ideal for applications in:

   –   Food and Beverage

   –   Wastewater

   –   Pharmaceutical

   –   Marine

   –   Medical Facilities

   –   Medical Equipment Manufacturing

   –   All Industrial Applications

Mencom IP69 rated circular connectors will help reduce potential product failures due to water/dust ingress while increasing productivity and decreasing production downtime.
