ABB Designs Time-Saving ENT Fittings for Construction Projects
- ABB’s new Carlon® Flex-Plus® Blue ENT two-piece fittings help drive job site efficiency of residential and commercial electrical installations
- Engineered for strength, along with time and labor savings for poured-in-place concrete construction
- Made in Canada solutions and local availability support demand surge
As Canada’s construction industry prepares for long-term growth, durable, locally produced materials and efficient installation methods are propelling the industry forward. An essential component of building electrical systems, ABB Installation Products engineered new Carlon® Flex-Plus® Blue electrical non-metallic tubing (ENT) two-piece fittings to help speed and simplify conduit installations and meet demanding project timelines.
Working with electricians and installers, ABB reimagined traditional fittings by developing high-performing polycarbonate two-piece ENT fittings to route and protect wiring, cables and utilities that power lighting, outlets, and data and communications systems. Available in ½ inch, ¾ inch and 1-inch sizes, Carlon’s lightweight, two-piece fittings have an innovative eight-tab snap, eliminating the need for tape or PVC cement and helping ensure cost-effective and concrete-tight installations. With over 200 pounds of pull-out force, low insertion force and freely rotating components, the time-saving design is ideal for poured-in-place concrete applications.
“As we anticipate continued growth of new construction and infrastructure projects across Canada, efficiency and reliability remain top priorities for our customers,” said Leila Sedighi, Vice President, Product Marketing for ABB Installation Products Canada. “Poured-in-place concrete slab installations demand solutions that are durable and convenient. From new builds to updates, our user-friendly new Carlon ENT fittings are designed with more than 200 pounds of pull-out force and low insertion force to make installations easier, smoother and faster for electricians.”
The fittings integrate easily with Carlon solutions and effectively prevent kinks in the ENT, which is critical for long conduit runs in concrete walls, raised floors, non-plenum ceilings, and metal or wood studs. The robust construction of the Carlon two-piece fittings builds on ABB’s legacy of innovative solutions, delivering easy installation, flexibility and long-lasting performance in diverse environments.
Produced at ABB’s T-CAN facility in Pointe-Claire, Carlon ENT products are used as a reliable and efficient raceway system and are available through the distributor network, although availability may vary by distributor.
