  • Solid Sands expands market share and unlocks new growth opportunities
  • Accelerates developments to bring innovation to the market quickly
  • Delivers the highest level of support to Plum Hall and Solid Sands customers
  • Both solutions offer more value, more coverage, more confidence

Solid Sands B.V., a the world-leading provider of testing and qualification technology for compilers and libraries, has reinforced its commitment to innovation, reliability and long-term support for the developer community with the acquisition of Plum Hall technology and test suites.

Founded in 1979, Plum Hall Inc. is a globally respected supplier of compiler test suites and software for the programmer and software development community. Solid Sands proudly continues the legacy of the founder of Plum Hall. Plum Hall, whose mission has long been to help developers write top-quality software, sought a future-oriented partner to ensure continuity and growth.

“We welcome the Plum Hall community of customers and partners to Solid Sands. By adding the renowned and upgraded Plum Hall suites to our product portfolio, we can now deliver broader test coverage and improved qualification capabilities, which are always a must for software developers”, said Marianne Damstra, CEO of Solid Sands. “Customers can expect continued support for the Plum Hall suite from Solid Sands’ professional and highly experienced engineering team.”

This acquisition will enable Solid Sands to expand its market share and unlock new growth opportunities, accelerating product and service development while bringing innovative solutions to market with greater speed and precision.

By adding Plum Hall’s validation suites to its portfolio, Solid Sands is enhancing its ability to support the rapidly evolving landscape of programming-language standards, especially in light of the major changes introduced in C23 , C++23 and the upcoming C++26.

“This surge in new specifications is driving a sharp increase in required test cases, making it increasingly challenging for compiler developers to keep pace,” says Sjoerd van der Zwaan, CPO of Solid Sands. “With this acquisition, Solid Sands is now able to meet that demand while also unlocking important technology synergies, enabling accelerated development of our own test suites. It’s a clear dual benefit for our customers and the industry.”

Plum Hall’s CEO, Douglas Teeple, adds: “I am delighted that Solid Sands will carry out development, support and distribution of the Plum Hall test suites along with their own solid product line. Solid Sands staff members have an excellent understanding of the field of compiler and library testing and verification. I am confident that Solid Sands will carry forward the Plum Hall test suites with excellent customer service and will continue to support the suites as compiler technology develops in the future.”

About Solid Sands
Since Amsterdam’s earliest days, its buildings have stood on deep foundation piles – driven through clay and peat to reach solid sand.  At Solid Sands, we take the same approach to software reliability. Our mission is to ensure that safety-critical software is built on a solid foundation. Our world runs on code, powering everything from medical robotics and autonomous vehicles to aerospace systems and railway networks. But software is only as strong as the trust behind it. That’s why we created SuperTest™ and SuperGuard™, the world’s most rigorous compiler validation and library test suites. By eliminating uncertainty and ensuring quality, we give our clients more than just testing tools; we give them Confidence by Design.
