Ontario Welcomes Marvell Workforce Expansion to Support AI Infrastructure Development
December 1, 2025

Marvell expansion will create up to 350 new jobs and reinforce Ontario’s position as a leader in artificial intelligence infrastructure
The Ontario government is welcoming an investment of $238 million for a five-year expansion by Marvell Technology Inc., a leader in data infrastructure semiconductor solutions, which includes the launch of a new office in Toronto, scaling of its semiconductor research and development (R&D) operations in Ottawa and York Region, and the establishment of a new optical lab. The expansion will also create up to 350 new, good-paying jobs across Ontario’s technology corridor and solidify the province’s position as a global hub for technology and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure.
“As one of the largest tech-hubs in North America, Ontario is proudly driving the development of next-generation technologies that are changing the face of leading industries, from consumer electronics to advanced manufacturing,” said Vic Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade. “Ontario is proud to support Marvell Technology’s expansion, which will not only create hundreds of new, high-value jobs across our tech corridor, but reinforce the province’s leadership in the critical semiconductor industry.”
Specialized semiconductors are an essential component for AI infrastructure – a rapidly growing industry. Marvell is driving innovation in custom AI silicon and connectivity solutions that enable cloud data centre customers to deploy efficient, higher-performance computing systems to drive the next wave of AI innovation. Marvell’s expansion includes the addition of an 8,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art optical lab, reinforcing the company’s commitment to advancing next-generation technologies in Ontario and maintaining its leadership in AI infrastructure solutions.
“The world’s hyperscalers, leading data centre operators and OEMs rely on our technology to power their most demanding AI workloads,” said Sandeep Bharathi, president of the Data Center Group at Marvell. “Ontario offers a vast pool of professionals with expertise in the latest semiconductor and AI technologies, and we are delighted to bring new talent into the company to help extend our leadership position in next-gen, advanced AI data centre infrastructure solutions.”
As global demand for semiconductors intensifies, Marvell’s investment will leverage Ontario’s world-class tech workers and give the province a competitive advantage as a global hub for semiconductor technology and AI infrastructure. In support of this investment, Ontario is providing up to $17 million in funding through the Invest Ontario Fund.
With economic uncertainty impacting workers and businesses, the Ontario government is protecting the province by lowering taxes and red tape, building the most resilient, self-reliant and competitive economy in the G7. Since 2018, Ontario has attracted a historic $113 billion in foreign direct investment and created one million new jobs.
