The second generation of safety light curtainsPSENopt II, provide safe access to the production process and provide finger, hand and body protection, depending on the requirement. The first Type 3 safety light curtains are specifically designed for applications up to PL d of EN/IEC 61496-1/-2. Type 4 light curtains are also available for applications up to PL e of EN/IEC 61496-1/-2. As the units are so robust, PSENopt II sensors provide protection against shock, collision and vibration and so are suitable for use in rugged industrial environments. The operator can evaluate the main causes and system defects responsible for the machine stop by means of the LEDs. Downtimes are reduced as a result.

The safety light curtains are available in lengths from 150 mm to 1800 mm. In combination with the safe small controllers PNOZmulti 2, the result is a safe, complete, one-stop solution. In the graphics software tool PNOZmulti Configurator you can select the light curtain block and configure your own individual safety light curtain application with just a few clicks. The Type 3 safety light curtains in accordance with EN/IEC 61496-1/-2 are specially designed for applications up to PL d. And have gained the UL certificate as the world’s first Type 3 safety light curtains! So you can be sure that by using PSENopt II you are making the right decision to protect your staff and your machinery – worldwide! We have been highly successful in working with UL International Germany.

Why UL-certified?

With globalisation, the safe, seamless introduction of new products on to the world market is becoming ever more important. Product liability laws in the USA are a great deal stricter than they are in Europe or Asia for example. UL-certified devices meet the national safety standards of the USA and Canada. The certification procedure in accordance with North American standards for electrical goods simplifies market access considerably. Nothing else stands in the way of use in the USA and Canada. It speeds up commissioning on-site. Machine builders who export into these markets benefit from this in particular.

Complete one-stop solution

In conjunction with safe control technology from Pilz, PSENopt II units offer a safe, economical and complete solution for your plant. Flexible to use, rapid installation, absence of dead zones and shock resistance of 50g mean that PSENopt II units are predestined for use in an everyday industrial environment. With their 5-pin connector, they can be connected directly to the decentralised modules PDP67. High-quality accessories such as post protectors, mirror columns, PSENopt II lockout guarantee carefree application.

Access Management for Your Plant and Machinery

With PILZ’s “Identification and Access Management” portfolio, they offer you a comprehensive range of products, solutions and software for the implementation of safety as well as security tasks. Below you’ll discover more about potential applications, from simple authentication to complex access permissions, and access management through to safe operating mode selection, maintenance safeguarding and safeguarding of data and networks. Experience safety and security in one system!

This solution ensures that a machine cannot resume operation while people are still in the danger zone. The maintenance safeguarding system “key-in-pocket” is designed for machines with danger zones, which are protected by a safety fence and which staff need to access – robot cells for example. In comparison with conventional lockout-tagout (LOTO) systems, maintenance safeguarding with the key-in-pocket solution is implemented via RFID keys with corresponding permissions and a safe list in the PILZ controllers. As a result, it provides a purely electronic restart protection and makes both mechanical interlocking devices and warning tags redundant.
