Endress+Hauser Ushers in New Era in H2S Gas Stream Analysis with JT33 Analyzer
Configuring Endress+Hauser’s new JT33 H2S gas analyzer with one of 12 available stream composition profiles further reduces error risk in measuring hydrogen sulfide content in various gas streams, assuring the highest accuracy and repeatability for the process being monitored.

Endress+Hauser introduces the new JT33 TDLAS gas analyzer, a groundbreaking system for real-time, precise hydrogen sulfide (H2S) measurement in industrial gas streams. User-friendly and extremely easy to maintain, the JT33 is readily adaptable to any gas stream, whatever its composition.

The JT33’s field-proven, best-in-class TDLAS (tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy) differential technology delivers continuous, high-quality measurement in all gas process environments found throughout Canada. TDLAS is widely considered the most reliable technology for accurate measurement of hydrogen sulfide. The JT33 boasts range measurement capabilities of 0-10 ppmv or 0-500 ppmv; other ranges are available by request.

In natural gas, biomethane, and carbon dioxide pipelines, the JT33 serves a crucial function in preventing corrosion, hydrate formation and mitigating the risk of uncontrollable events. It also optimizes gas sweetening processes and ensures CO2 quality in hydrocarbon processing plants, LNG plants, and carbon capture processes.

The JT33 offers a variety of system options for seamlessly integrating with different stream characteristics. When the uniqueness of gas backgrounds isn’t accounted for, measurement errors may occur. Configuring the JT33 with one of 12 stream composition profiles based in a variety of common applications in natural gas transmission, processing and distribution, LNG, refining, petrochemical, biomethane and carbon capture minimizes that risk, assuring the highest accuracy and repeatability for the process being monitored. There also is a wide range of component options – for flowmeters, pressure regulators, filtration and auto-validation devices –to suit various application requirements.

Part of a new generation of Endress+Hauser TDLAS analyzers, the JT33 boasts many enhancements.  Its patented differential technology, reliable metrology, and NIST-traceable calibration ensure consistent and precise H2S measurements in light or heavy streams, even amidst contaminants and stream changes. The JT33’s dependable trace-level H2S measurements also enable tight gas quality control to ensure specifications are met and documented as required in tariff and sales agreements between suppliers, carriers, and end users.

Unlike other measurement technologies, the JT33 does not require carrier gases and has virtually no consumable components, resulting in lower operating and maintenance costs, and service requirements. Noncontact measurement ensures laser and detector components are isolated from process gas and contaminants, avoiding fouling and corrosion damage for reliable long-term operation. Interchangeable components are readily accessible and field-serviceable, allowing for quick replacement.

Like Endress+Hauser’s next generation J22 TDLAS analyzer for the accurate measurement of water in gas streams, the JT33 includes improvements in design, componentry and software, focusing on three main areas:

  • Transmitter electronics, including HMI, data presentation, system connectivity, and diagnostics
  • Modular construction to simplify servicing, including serviceability for all aspects like the sample system, optical enclosure, sample cell and electronics.
  • Enclosure protection for mounting versatility.

For example, the JT33 features a user-friendly interface with an intuitive menu, plus easy set up and operation with remote accessibility via integrated web server software.

Supported by Endress+Hauser’s proprietary Heartbeat Technology, the analyzer’s health is monitored 24/7 with on-site auto-validation and features auto-stored historical data, spectrum logging, and advanced diagnostics. The JT33’s verification reporting feature is particularly useful to meet measurement specification requirements during critical custody transfers. By swiftly and reliably identifying irregularities, the JT33 can mitigate costly premature media replacement and/or process shutdowns and avoid gas delivery interruptions.

With configuration flexibility, serviceability, and nearly maintenance-free operation, the JT33 offers versatility and high availability combined with low cost of ownership.
