Endress+Hauser Now Boasts Over 9,000 Patents and Patents Pending

Endress+Hauser Now Boasts Over 9,000 Patents and Patents Pending

On average, Endress+Hauser filed a patent every working day last year. There were 285 first filings for inventions. The family-owned company was granted a total of 701 patents overall, a figure exceeding the number of first filings as inventions are ultimately registered with multiple patent offices. The Endress+Hauser Group’s portfolio of intellectual property rights now includes over 9,000 active patents and patents pending.

The Group’s spending on R&D in 2024 totaled over 275.6 million euros, or 7.4% of sales, and contributed to the company bringing 81 new products to market.

Endress+Hauser employees involved in a patent application are invited to the company’s annual Innovators’ Meeting.

This year’s Innovators’ Meeting was held recently at the home stadium of German Bundesliga football team SC Freiburg. “Innovation is a team sport,” Endress+Hauser’s director for IPR Dr Christine Koslowski told the 430 invited employees in a nod to the venue. And she had the numbers to back this up: “Ninety-one percent of all innovations generated in 2024 were a team effort.”

Among the awards presented at the Innovators’ Meeting, was the company’s first ever for eco-design and circular economy. “We want to make our product development even more sustainable,” explained Dr Andreas Mayr, chief operating officer at Endress+Hauser. “And that’s why we’re presenting awards for inventions that combine our measuring instruments’ exceptional functionality and reliability with a resource-saving and eco-friendly approach.”

The winning innovations included electronics and housing designs that enable significant energy and material savings and hence reduce the company’s carbon footprint.
