Automated Cultivation of Biomass Presented by Festo

Algae are small climate savers. Even in their natural state they are extremely efficient photosynthesizers and absorb ten times more carbon dioxide (CO₂) than land plants. In bioreactors equipped with appropriate sensors, control technology and automation, the efficiency of algae can be increased to a hundred times that of land plants. This shows that they have a significant potential for a climate-neutral circular economy. With the PhotoBionicCell research project Festo is demonstrating a potential approach for the industrial biologisation of tomorrow at the Hannover Fair.

The Festo Group has achieved the highest turnover in its history for the 2021 financial year. After a double-digit growth in turnover of around 18% to 3.36 billion euros (previous year 2.84 billion euros), the company started the first quarter with a double-digit order intake.
