Endress+Hauser Temperature Transmitter First With User-Friendly Bluetooth Access

The new Endress+Hauser TMT142B HART®7 smart temperature transmitter incorporates Bluetooth® wireless communications – a world-first for this class of field devices – to make operating, parameterizing and maintaining the unit extremely user friendly. That’s a significant benefit for technical staff managing sensor/transmitter assemblies located in hard-to-see-or-access locations, as is often the case.

With Bluetooth® on board, the TMT142B can be commissioned, operated and serviced wirelessly using the Endress+Hauser SmartBlue app on any IOS, Android or Windows device from as far away as 20 metres.

Fast, easy wireless access can translate into significant improvements in process efficiency and plant availability while, at the same time, reducing costs. The TMT142B can be configured wirelessly without needing to pre-install its device drivers, since they are incorporated into the transmitter. Access to the device is password-protected and the Endress+Hauser security concept for Bluetooth® communication complies with the highest security standards.

The single-channel TMT142B transmitter delivers highly accurate and reliable measurements and is packaged in a robust single-chamber field housing. It has a newly developed backlit display that provides excellent readability under all environmental conditions, from darkness to strong sunlight.

The TMT142B’s integrated overvoltage protection assures continued accurate measurement even after common upset events and protects against damage.

The unit guarantees a high level of measuring point availability through integrated sensor monitoring functions and device diagnostics. Diagnostic information is available to the user in accordance with NAMUR NE 107, Condensed Status Diagnostic messages are indicated through variable backlight color (white to red). The TMT142B transmits converted signals from resistance sensors (RTD), thermocouples (TC), resistances (Ω) and voltage transmitters (mV) via the 4 to 20 mA or HART®7 protocols. The transmitter-sensor matching capability using the Callendar-Van Dusen coefficients further improves the entire assembly’s precision.

The TMT142B is designed for safe operation in hazardous areas as certified by international approvals (ATEX, CSA C/US, IECEx).
