ABB Wins New Product Award at MCEE Show

  • ReliaHome™ Smart Panel won Best New Product Award in the Software, Controls and Related Components category.
  • Iberville® Gangable boxes with low-voltage cables support bracket was recognized as a finalist in the Commercial, Institutional and Industrial Electrical Products category.

ABB was honored with a Best New Product Award in the Software, Controls and Related Components category for the ReliaHome™ Smart Panel at the 2025 MCEE Expo. In addition, the Iberville® Gangable boxes with low-voltage cables support bracket was recognized as a finalist in the Commercial, Institutional and Industrial Electrical Products category.

The MCEE Expo is Canada’s largest trade show for the electrical, plumbing, HVAC and lighting industries, and was held April 24–25 at the Palais des congrès in Montreal.

Launched in October 2024, ABB’s ReliaHome Smart Panel is designed to manage and optimize home energy usage. Compatible with various systems, including solar, emergency storage or backup generator system, this smart panel allows homeowners to monitor and control energy consumption efficiently. Homeowners can also use intelligent algorithms and load shedding capabilities to avoid costly panel upgrades.

“ReliaHome Smart Panel is a game-changer for residential energy management. It gives homeowners the tools they need to take control of their energy use in a more sustainable and cost-effective way,” said Catherine Chapleau, Division Leader, ABB Smart Power, Smart Buildings.

Introduced by ABB Electrification, Installation Products Division, in January 2025, the Iberville gangable boxes with low-voltage cables support bracket simplifies installation on steel studs and helps ensure perfect alignment between the box and the low-voltage cable support. This innovative design reduces installation time and effort for electricians working in commercial and industrial environments.

“We designed our Iberville gangable boxes —proudly made in Canada— to make electricians’ jobs easier. The feedback from the field has been overwhelmingly positive,” said Leila Sedighi, Vice-President Product and Marketing, Canada, ABB Installation Products.

These product award recognitions reflect ABB’s commitment to delivering innovative, practical, and future-ready solutions for the Canadian market.

Smart Buildings: the Smart Choice for Sustainability

The sustainability benefits of smart homes are well publicized and those of us who have digital power outlets, smart thermostats and automatic lights know firsthand about the energy and cost savings. However, much less discussed is the broader adoption of smart building technology by companies and industries. With buildings generating nearly 30 percent of all greenhouse gas emissions,1 it would be impossible to ignore how quickly our path to net zero would expedite if entire sectors adopted them.
