Another Year, Another Gold Medal at Skills Canada for Humber Polytechnic Students

The Electromechanical Engineering Technology students earned a gold medal in the Mechatronics Team of Two division last year and followed that up with another first-place finish at this year’s competition.

With the win, the two have qualified for the WorldSkills International Shanghai 2026 Competition.

“There’s a growing demand for mechatronics skills across every sector and, at Humber, employers are actively recruiting our students well before graduation,” said Neal Mohammed, director of the Barrett Centre for Technology Innovation. “That’s why we’re so proud of Grant and Cole for earning gold at the Skills Canada National Competition. Their achievement showcases the strength of our programs and the incredible talent of our students.”

Humber, led by Mohammed, has participated in provincial, national and international Skills mechatronics competitions and, over the last two decades, has won 50 medals – 32 gold, 14 silver and four bronze.
