Endress+Hauser’s New Micropilot Family: Level Measurement with Best-In-Class Simplicity and Efficiency
Endress+Hauser’s next generation Micropilot family of 80GHz radar level measurement instruments is designed to be extremely easy to install and commission for a highly reliable, no-hassle monitoring experience.

Endress+Hauser’s latest Micropilot family with 80GHz radar technology has been developed for customers who want maximum simplicity combined with efficiency in level measurement – for a continuous no-worry, no-hassle experience.

These compact Micropilot devices are designed for commissioning in as little as three minutes and easy operation. Setup sequences with help texts – “wizards” – and illustrations guide users through the process.

The new Micropilot family is comprised of the FMR10B and FMR20B, successors to legacy Micropilot units, and the all-new FMR30B with a Micropilot first, a colour touchscreen display. Each one is suitable for level measurement in both liquids and solids.

These devices can be linked to a control network or easily and reliably operated via remote access through a smartphone or tablet or viewing the color touch display. Bluetooth is standard on the FMR10B and optional on the FMR20B and FMR30B.

The new Micropilot family also offers a range of individual options such as explosion protection certification for gas and dust and the 80 mm/3” antenna provides a stronger signal than the previous generation for a measuring distance of up to 30m. Their 80GHz radar technology means measurements are highly accurate and minimizes distortive factors like tank wall effects and interference from tank obstacles, and allows for installations in nozzles without antenna extension and through ball valves.

While connected to the device via Bluetooth, the integrated “It’s me-function” of the new Micropilot family confirms that the operator is connecting to the right device. A flashing display (FMR30B) or flashing LED (FMR10B and FMR20B) gives a clear device identification. Those LEDs and the display on the FMR30B also provide precise information on the status of each device during operation. In case of a malfunction, the LED color changes, and the display also indicates the status.

The display on the Micropilot FMR30B provides additional comfortable on-device control without opening the lid. Fast and safe configuration, thanks to intuitive user interfaces and guided wizards, make the display particularly easy to operate.

With Heartbeat Technology on board, the functionality of the measuring devices can be evaluated at any time. The verification, tested to the Radar Accuracy Index (RAI), not only involves checking if the device components still comply with their original reference values, but also indicates the presence of systematic faults which could have a negative impact on device or process performance.

Even with challenges such as flooding, foam formation, dust or variable media or grain sizes – the new radar sensors deliver reliable measurement results. Thanks to the all-around suitability and versatile accessories, the devices can be optimized to meet the unique requirements of various industries.
