Intelligent design, rugged construction, convenient to use: The EXTA4 is a new range of keyboards from Pepperl+Fuchs specifically designed for use in hazardous areas. The keyboards are ideal for quickly and easily connecting to HMIs based on the Pepperl+Fuchs “VisuNet GXP” and “VisuNet FLX” platforms. If used with an appropriate isolated barrier, they are also suitable for explosion-protected stand-alone applications.

The EXTA4 is a new range of keyboards from Pepperl+Fuchs specifically designed for use in explosion hazardous areas. EXTA4 keyboards can be configured with the appropriate certification for the application framework conditions: The spectrum of application options ranges from non-hazardous areas through to ATEX/IECEx Zones 2/22 and ATEX/IECEx Zones 1/21. The concept of the EXTA4 series, based on the Ex i type of protection, separates the interfaces of the keyboard and the integrated mouse into distinct, intrinsically safe circuits. The keyboards are easy to install and integrate into existing systems thanks to an 8-pin PS/2 or 2x USB connections.

The standard housing for EXTA4 keyboards is available in several mounting versions and is designed for easy and convenient installation using the Pepperl+Fuchs VisuNet HMI family. A version for panel mounting and a desktop design for specific stand-alone applications are also available. The keyboards are available with an optical trackball mouse, a capacitive touch pad mouse, or a joystick mouse to suit various applications.

MT PepperlFuchs Keyboard 2 400The capacitive touch pad is optimized to be compatible with gloves commonly used in the pharmaceutical industry. The touch pad is highly resistant to the cleaning agents typically used in these areas, just like the rest of the infinitely variable keyboard in the stainless steel housing.

If the user is wearing thick leather gloves, the joystick configuration is the best option for enabling precise use.

The version with an optical trackball is also easy to operate when wearing gloves and offers the great advantage of complying with degree of protection IP66 in both static and dynamic conditions. This makes it especially rugged and makes it easy to clean thoroughly.
