Reaction Dynamics Announces Strategic Collaboration to Strengthen Canada’s Defence and Space Capabilities

Reaction Dynamics (RDX) has entered into a strategic collaboration agreement, with Defence Research and Development Canada, aimed at advancing Canada’s technological edge in both defence and space domains. This new partnership brings together DRDC’s leading science and technology expertise with RDX’s breakthrough innovations in space transportation and propulsion systems.

The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to enhancing national defence capabilities, fostering domestic innovation, and improving responsiveness to emerging security challenges—both on Earth and in orbit. Furthermore, it supports the strategic objective of establishing sovereign launch capabilities, which is essential to maintaining autonomy within the evolving global security and space environment.

Headquartered in Quebec, Reaction Dynamics is developing a suite of sustainable, next-generation space transportation systems, including:

  • Aurora-8: a launch vehicle designed for rapid, on-demand access to Earth’s orbit;
  • Aurora-1: an aeroballistic test platform tailored for hypersonics, missile defence applications, and microgravity research;
  • A modular, green in-space propulsion system: for orbital maneuvers, station-keeping, collision avoidance, and deorbiting.

“This collaboration underscores the growing role of space in national security and Canada’s ability to lead through innovation,” said Bachar Elzein, CEO of Reaction Dynamics. “Working alongside DRDC allows us to ensure our technologies serve both commercial and sovereign interests—delivering tangible capabilities for the Canadian Armed Forces and supporting the resilience of Canada’s space infrastructure.”

By aligning our complementary expertise with DRDC, we aim to understand and develop innovative solutions that respond to modern threats, enhance military preparedness, and promote a thriving Canadian defence-industrial base. The partnership also highlights the value of fostering homegrown capabilities that are agile, sustainable, and sovereign by design.
