ABB Named as One of the Top 10 Gen AI-Powered Industrial Copilot Vendors

  • Recognition reflects ABB’s continued innovation and leadership in Gen AI-powered operational transformation
  • ABB Ability™ Genix Copilot noted for its contextual insights and operational integration
  • One to watch status builds on ABB’s position as a Leader in Verdantix Green Quadrant for APM solutions

ABB has been recognized by independent research firm Verdantix as a world-leading innovative Gen AI-powered industrial copilot vendor. The global technology business has been named as one of the top 10 vendors to watch in 2025 for Gen AI, solidifying its position at the forefront of industrial digital transformation.

Verdantix noted Genix Copilot’s ability to improve efficiency, productivity and sustainability by contextualizing vast amounts of data and providing insights in a conversational role-based format, for operational, engineering and executive-level users in asset-heavy industries. The report also noted that the integration of the copilot functionality with Genix systems and tools, such as GMD Copilot, which is designed to optimize gearless mill drive operations, and My Measurement Assistant+, ensured the Gen AI was both actionable and trusted by field teams.

The Verdantix Market Insight: 10 Gen AI-Powered Industrial Copilot Vendors to Watch in 20251 report highlights ABB’s specific capability to embed AI directly into plant operations through ABB Ability™ Genix Copilot. The solution, which leverages Azure OpenAI Service, was launched last year, building on ABB’s long-standing collaboration with Microsoft.

By embedding Genix Copilot capabilities into its industrial digital solutions, ABB is helping customers to run high-performing operations, while also becoming more efficient, productive and sustainable. Businesses running Genix have seen significant cost savings in operations and maintenance, as well as increases in production efficiency and improvements in energy and emission optimization.

“Industrial operations are undergoing a transformation, driven by a mix of workforce challenges and the pursuit of efficiency. AI-powered industrial copilots are emerging as a compelling solution,” said report author Lucas Sala, Analyst, Verdantix. “ABB’s AI copilot leverages deep domain models and predictive capabilities to offer high-value insights in asset-heavy industries.”

The recognition builds on ABB’s position as a Leader in the 2024 Verdantix Green Quadrant for Asset Performance Management (APM) Solutions, which evaluated software suppliers across 18 capability areas and nine strategic success factors. In placing ABB in the Leaders quadrant, Verdantix recognized advanced functionality, the strategic advantages offered by the solutions, interoperability and expertise on third-party integration.

“Industrial copilots are becoming essential for navigating the current challenges of the operational environment and the drive towards efficiencies. This latest recognition from Verdantix affirms our approach,” said Gino Hernandez, Head of Global Digital Business at ABB’s Energy Industries division. “Genix Copilot is an advisor embedded in daily operations. By turning complex industrial data into clear, AI-powered contextual guidance, we’re enabling our customers to reduce costs, increase uptime and move confidently toward their digital and autonomous goals.”
