MC Festo Features Industry 4.0 Innovation and Skills Development at German Technology Day 1 400x275

October 13, 2022

Festo’s participation at German Technology Day, Oct 20 at Humber College’s Etobicoke campus, co-features industry 4.0 innovation and skills development because increasingly, you can’t reap the advantages of one without the other.

With skills shortages looming larger for Canadian manufacturers, Festo Didactic, the educational division of Festo, will highlight some of its teaching and training programs for businesses and academic institutions to meet current and future workforce demands. In addition, Tony Oran, Vice President of Sales for Festo Didactic, will speak to attendees at 2:20 pm on “Filling the Training Gap with Workforce Development” – how companies can use Festo Didactic to build a resilient workforce for the future.

Skills Development is the intangible elephant in the room for Canadian manufacturers. The Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters Association estimates that 25% of the manufacturing work force will retire by 2030 and that there will be 2.1 million unfilled jobs in domestic manufacturing by that point if the issue isn’t addressed adequately.

Festo Didactic is tackling that challenge head on, partnering with institutions like Humber while offering corporate customers a comprehensive range of basic learning and upskilling courses for new and current employees. (Humber students get hands on training for automation and robotics on Festo Didactic equipment, including a full-fledged CP Factory, a comprehensive, modular and expandable factory model for the Industry 4.0 environment.)

Festo also will be displaying some of its latest automation innovations at Technology Day, at Booth #7 from 8 am to 4pm.

The German Technology Day event at Humber will have a space called “innovation hub” where all 15 participating companies will show how their solutions and applications can be integrated with each other. Festo will demonstrate how its ground-breaking CPX-AP-I remote I/O platform can be easily integrated with those other solutions.
