Advanced AGV Cleaning High-Risk Zones to Recover Critical Metals in Gigafactories

As gigafactories and recycling plants scale to meet rising demands, the need for innovative solutions that address both safety and efficiency continues to grow. DREV and Kollmorgen – Autonomous Mobile Solutions (AMS) are proud to announce their partnership and joint efforts to develop a groundbreaking Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) with integrated contamination control technology. Designed to operate in large, highly restricted and hazardous environments, this AGV aims to ensure the safety of workers by operating where humans should not, while at the same time recovering valuable raw materials that would otherwise be discarded as dust.

“By combining DREV’s expertise in contamination control with Kollmorgen’s industry-leading AGV systems, we’re driving innovation in the battery industry, delivering solutions that safeguard people and the environment.” – Thomas Tingelöf, CTO & Co-Founder, DREV.

Meeting the Challenges of Restrictive Industrial Environments

Modern industrial facilities face a growing challenge of maintaining productivity and ensuring safety in hazardous and highly restrictive areas where human access is limited or unsafe. Gigafactories, in particular, handle valuable and scarce raw materials that can be difficult to recover while also ensuring worker safety in these high-risk environments.

“This innovation addresses a critical gap in the industry and will be vital for maintaining safety and sustainability in future operations.” – Fernando Sosa, Senior Director of Facility & EPC, NOVO.

A High-Tech AGV Solution for Efficiency and Safety

The collaboration between DREV and Kollmorgen AMS underscores a shared commitment to delivering practical, high-tech solutions for modern industrial operations. By prioritizing both safety and resource recovery, this AGV is set to redefine how gigafactories and recycling facilities handle complex logistics in high-risk environments.

“The DREV Vault-Autonomous System represents a breakthrough solution that combines Kollmorgen’s robust, proven and scalable technology for vehicle automation with DREV’s innovations that focus on employee safety in a fast growing and demanding industry. With advanced fleet management capabilities, operators can maintain high levels of productivity while minimizing risks to personnel.” – Johan Lundblad, General Manager, Kollmorgen AMS.
